C@P Site - C@P stands for Community Access Project. The C@P Site is a place where the public can go to access computers and the internet for free.
 
E-mail - An e-mail is a note or letter that is sent over the internet. The e-mail adress for the maker of this site is stewcap@yahoo.ca, for example.
 
Emoticon/Smilie - Sometimes websites or e-mails will use these little faces to show how the author is feeling. An example of a happy emoticon is this happy face  :o)  and here is a sad one :o(
 
HTTP:// - All of these letters and symbols are just a way to tell the computer that you are looking for a website on the internet, it is like giving the computer directions. It really stands for Hyper-Text Transfer Protocol.
 
Link - A link is a word or a picture that you can click on using the computer mouse that will take you to another part of the internet. Links are usual blue or purple and underlined, but they can be different. An example of a link is http://yahooligans.com. Try clicking on that link and see what happens!
 
LOL - This is the most commonly used abbreviation on the Internet. It stands for "laughing out loud". Sometimes people will type it on websites or in e-mails to let you know that they are joking or that something is funny.
 
Search Engine - This is a special website where you can type in a word and it will look all over the internet for websites relating to that word. An example of a search engine is http://ajkids.com.
 
URL - The address for a website. The URL for this website is http://stewcap.tripod.com, for example.
 
WWW - This means World Wide Web. WWW is just a way to tell you and the computer that the place you want to go is a website.
